Hierarchy High Priest/ess - The formal title for this rank is Black Rose, the titular head of the Order, who serves for life and is replaced upon their Ascension to the Infinite Dead by an appointed successor. High Steward/ess - The formal title for this rank is Conciliator, second in command of the Order who becomes the new Black Rose upon the Ascension of his or her predecessor. Archivist - Both a title and a rank, the Archivist is both chief scribe and master of doctrine for the Order. In the unlikely event that both the Black Rose and the Conciliator should simultaneously Ascend, the Archivist becomes the new Black Rose, appointing for themselves a new Conciliator and Archivist. The Mendicant Orders The rank-and-file members of the Order Proper are the Mendicants, travelers and itinerants who are stationed across the Galaxy according to the needs of the Order and in furtherance of it's duties. The Mendicants are further divided into several lesser Orders, which will be incorporated and dissolved as the needs of the Order evolve.
